Vata, Pitta, Kapha: Why Your Body Type Matters

The same diet does not heal everyone. The same medicine does not work for everyone. Classical Ayurveda begins with this observation and builds its entire system around answering it.
Three forces, one body
Vata governs movement: circulation, breath, nerve signalling, thought itself. When Vata is balanced, you feel light and clear; when disturbed, you feel anxious, dry, depleted.
Pitta governs transformation: digestion, metabolism, body heat, the sharpness of intellect. Balanced Pitta gives drive and clarity; disturbed Pitta brings inflammation, acidity, anger.
Kapha governs structure: strength, immunity, lubrication, calm. Balanced Kapha gives endurance; disturbed Kapha brings heaviness, weight, congestion, lethargy.
Your Prakruti is fixed; your Vikruti changes
Prakruti is your constitution at birth: the unique mix of Vata, Pitta and Kapha you came in with. It does not change.
Vikruti is your current state of imbalance: what has shifted in response to age, diet, stress, climate. This is what treatment works on.
Treating a Vata-dominant person with a Pitta-pacifying protocol can do real harm. Reading Prakruti accurately is the first job of every consultation here.
How we read it
Through long-form questioning about your physical traits, energy patterns, sleep, appetite, digestion, emotional tendencies, and history. Through Nadi Pariksha: pulse diagnosis. Through observation. None of these on their own; all of them together.
Once we have your Prakruti, your treatment finally has a starting point.
